Carl had three sanctioned 300 games, one locally on July 2, 1962, and a high series of 781. He was considered one of Kokomo's finest bowlers and holds many Kokomo Bowling Association Championship Titles. Carl also served as past assistant secretary-treasurer of the Kokomo Bowling Association.

His highest average was 212 and went pro about the same time as Pro Bowler Don Johnson. Carl had been a PBA member for 27 years. Carl's highest finish in a PBA Tournament was fifth at the Hialeah in Florida. He was still active on the PBA Seniors Tour where he had three top ten finishes since 1983 in the PBA National Seniors Championship. In seniors competition, Carl carried a 201 average for 144 games.
