He started bowling in 1973 at the age of 21, and he has not missed a season since. Rick is a very likeable person. When he undertakes a chore or task, he stays with it until it has finished. He has applied the same characteristics to his bowling. After arriving on the Kokomo scene in 1991 from Goshen, he has had some championship moments. When he first hit town, he dropped by Don Lowry Lanes and actually had the opportunity to roll a couple of games with the great professional bowler Don Johnson, who is also a member of the City of Firsts USBC Hall of Fame.

MAJOR BOWLING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Rick’s highest average of 224 was recorded in the 2007-08 season and was based on 90 games.
- He achieved perfection on four occasions when he rolled 300 games in 1991, 1997, 2005, and 2008.
- He has averaged over 200 for 14 seasons with a composite average of 208 in Kokomo leagues from 2000-2010.
- Rick’s high series of 773 was bowled on January 21, 2011, with games of 278, 246, and 249, which also included 29 strikes.
- His career high series in 2006 of an 804 (237, 289, 278) was recorded at Maple City Bowl in Goshen
- In 2007 at Kokomo Sport Bowl, Rick scored games of 256, 258, and 288 for an 802 series.
- On April 12, 2004, Rick recorded his first 300 game at Cedar Crest Lanes with his second 300 being scored at Don Lowry Lanes on June 6, 2005.
- His 299 games came in 1982 where he left an 8-pin and in 1997 when a 5-pin stood.

- As a league bowler, Rick won the Kokomo Traveling League team title in 1993-94 season, the Slick Trick League Team Championship in 1997-98, the Progressive League Team Championship in 2002-2003 season, and was the Kokomo Classic Scratch League Match Play Percentage Champion in 1996.
- He had earned two titles in the 1990’s, IHTBA, in Singles
- Other accomplishments and awards are five 11-in-a-Row Awards (297, 3-290s, 279), four 150 Over Series Awards, two 100 Over Game Awards, and he rolled a 220 Triplicate.
- Rick has participated in the Men’s State Tournament since 1984.
