Velma started bowling shortly after moving to Kokomo. Hall of Fame Member Kay Kelly recruited her and introduced her to four other ladies to build a team; it flourished into a bowling career of enjoyment. Velma served as President of the First Ladies Classic League as well as bowling in as many as five leagues a week. She is also a member of the Local, State, and National 600 Clubs. She also received a 50-Year Participation Award from WISBA for 50 years of bowling in the state tournament. Her personal career highs include a 258 game, a 649 series, and a high year-end average of 172. Her bowling career ended for health reasons. |
